Max & Max | The He{ART} of Family

The doorbell rang and I looked up to see Maxim’s feet disappear around the corner.

And then I waited for the “PAPU!” (His name for his grandfather, Maximo) as he saw his image on the video at our front door.

When it came, I smiled at his excitement and listened as he opened the door and bounced around his Papu.  The visit was short but they always make the most of it.  I continued my work in the kitchen and listened to Max go over the puzzles on his ipad.  He described the animals and colors with clarity & shared his laughter with his Papu.

I happened to look up while cleaning out the dishwasher and took the scene in.  Mostly shy, it took us awhile to get him to relax around other people.  Now, to see him holding conversation and sharing his excitement, it makes my heart soar.  I quietly grabbed my camera and captured the moment.

Our family is one of my favorite rooms in the house.  The morning light provides wonderful light, hitting Maxim just behind his head.  Since I was anxious to grab this image, I took it with my Canon 5D Mark II and my 100mm macro.  I decided to keep the reflection of the window from the granite counter top, capturing the moment from my vantage point in the kitchen.
