This morning I got my weekly e-mail from babycenter containing the usual blurb about what your child should be doing at this point in their development. This installment was entitled “How much sleep does your baby need?”
Based on the article, a baby between 6-9 months should be sleeping 11 hours at night and an average of 3.5 hours throughout the day.
Ummmm….did baby girl NOT get that memo? Hello?!
Okay, to give her credit, she does have a pretty good sleep routine in place. It’s just not my sleep routine. If I followed the advice of all the other moms out there, I would be sleeping when she’s sleeping. As easy as it sounds to simply lay down and sleep at every opportunity you get, I find myself doing the dishes, doing the laundry or prepping dinner. Or heaven forbid, catch up on a television show without distraction. lol
What is happening is my body is starting to get used to sleeping less. Before motherhood, I swore I needed at least 8 hours of sleep to function. Now, I’m thrilled if I make it to 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. That’s enough right? I should be lucky, there are people out there that get far less.
They never seem to do just what you’d like when you you’d like. Then when you think you got it figured it, it all changes again. oh boy. I’d be sad if when I got back from work it was Nathan’s bedtime within an hour, but its always grass is greener on the other side. I’m so lusting to go back to work 🙂
