Could it be? Did I just finish reading a book?
I thought I would have all the time in the world to read while I was on maternity leave.
Ha!
As if.
Even if Maxim is a mellow little baby, he LOVED to eat…and poo…then eat again. So reading wasn’t in the cards.
But now that I’m back at work and spend a lot of time driving around, I’ve been reunited with audio books (and a library that has a great selection and allows me to put books on hold).
This holiday read was the book selection for My Book Buddies. It was a short, easy read filled with the spirit of the holidays. It was a positive story filled with forgiveness, compassion and the reminder of the gift of family in its different forms. The characters were good, root-for people that made you hope for their happy ending. Their personal struggles were easy to relate to and brought to my mind how difficult other people truly have it and reminded me that an act of kindness could change the course of someone’s life.
For a holiday read, that IS the moral of the story. This book truly captured the holiday spirit of giving and forgiveness. It may not be believable or realistic to some but it’s a bright star for me to know that goodness does exist in the world and one person can have a big impact.
I would definitely recommend this book.
