I’m the Room Parent for my son’s Pre-K class again this year. For the teachers’ holiday gifts, the class decided to give each teacher a mini-Christmas tree. The kids are all making ornaments for the tree, which I will embellish and then we are going to hang some gift cards from the tree.
I felt like the tree needed another simple, small decoration. So, my son and I made little candy canes. Here’s what we used
Candy Cane Crafts Materials
And we added a few sparkly pipe cleaners for pizzazz!
Just twist two colors together from end to end. Cut them to the size that you want (it’s easier to cut them after you twist). I cut the long, twisted pipe cleaners into fours. You can use regular scissors, but I used my jewelry wire cutters. Bend them into a candy cane shape. I dabbed some glue (use glue that will dry clear) on each end, to help prevent fraying. Also, the glue softens some of the sharper ends from the wire cutting. The candy canes can be hung directly on the mini-tree. Or, you could add a decorative string to each candy cane, and attach it with string.
Happy Decorating!
