Check out my hack on how to make your Christmas stockings look full and three-dimensional before you fill them up for Christmas Day…
Christmas Stocking Hack
When you hang up your Christmas stockings to decorate, chances are they will be empty until Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I don’t fill my son’s stocking until he goes to bed on Christmas Eve. In the meantime, the stockings might look saggy and sad while they are hanging up. While your stockings are hanging up, you can make them look three-dimensional, like they “have something in them,” before you actually ever fill them up. Many times, this optimizes the look of the stocking, so that you can see the material and embroidery much better.
Here’s how: Get something lightweight to make a temporary filler for your stocking. I usually just stuff a few paper towels inside our stockings. This year, I had some bubble wrap from a package that I re-purposed for stocking filler. Use anything that will give you some bulk, but that won’t be too heavy.
There is a noticeable difference between the flat, empty stocking on the Left, and the three-dimensional, full stocking on the Right.
This material looks very flat hanging up with nothing in it. Put some bubble wrap in it to fill it up, and it instantly looks better.
That’s it! You instantly have a Christmas stocking that looks much nicer hanging up until you are ready to fill it.
Christmas Stocking Tip: When you pull your Christmas stockings out of storage, you may need to give them a quick iron or steaming to let any wrinkles out.
Happy Holidays!!
