Several years ago, my son received a beautiful little kid’s table from Pottery Barn Kids. It was almost too perfect to use. We set it up in his playroom, and he sat down at the table looking cute. My son is fairly gentle on things, but any activity he did on the table was making marks, scratches, knicks. The table was difficult to clean and wipe down too. So, I decided to take on a DIY Table Cover the table in a vinyl tablecloth. I recently picked up a new colored table cloth, and re-covered the table. I have found small, vinyl tablecloths at Bed, Bath & Beyond and Amazon.com (Plastic Black Polka Table Cover, 54″ x 108″). They are sold in other stores too. Just pick a color you like. You want to choose a table cloth size that is slightly bigger than your kid’s table, so that you can fold over and secure the edges.
Step 1:
Turn your table upside down. Open your table cloth and put the right side facing down on the floor. Place your upside down table onto the table cloth.
Step 2:
Around the inside edges of the table, or underneath the table if you don’t have edges, secure sticky tape around the perimeter. I like to use Command Medium Mounting Refill Strips, 9-Strip. They come in many sizes. They are easy to remove without causing damage. I used a little clear packaging tape to secure any loose areas where table cloth didn’t fit onto the Command strips well.
Fold over the edges of the table cloth, kind of like wrapping a present. Pull tight on each side so that the table cloth will lay flat. You don’t want to have too much extra table cloth fabric hanging over, but you also need to leave enough length to reach your sticky strips.
Step 3:
Flip your table over. You’re done!
