Ah, Flashback Friday. I’ve been in a New York State of mind lately. It’s been nearly 15 years since I explored the city. The last time I went to the Big Apple was a girl’s trip for my 24th birthday. (You can do the math). It remains one of my favorite trips – eating, Broadway, eating, photography, exploring the city, eating and lots and lots of laughs.
Some of the highlights from this trip included:
- A walk through Central Park
- Watching Joss Stone perform on the Today Show during their Summer Concert Series
- Seeing Christina Applegate in Sweet Charity
- Having dinner with Jake Gyllenhaal at Pastis (okay, so he was at the table over, but close enough for me!)
- The Brooklyn Bridge
There’s such a wonderful vibe and energy to this city. I’d love tosee it again and really absorb it at leisure. I’ll happily bypass the clubs and the bars and just enjoy the sights and sounds. I’d love to visit the memorial at Ground Zero, walk across the Brooklyn Bridge with my camera, maybe even rent bikes and explore Central Park in a different way.
I’ve got another milestone birthday coming up – maybe that would be a good time to re-visit this amazing city. Or should I go somewhere else? What are some of the favorite cities you’ve visited?
A leisure trip to New York sounds good at the moment especially with fall colors. I’d recommend Chicago, the bean is awesome as well as random concerts in the park.

Oh my – I love Chicago too. Clean city, lots of things to do + the eating!
I love New York— Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge are both among my favorite places.
