Haha! Me too! There is no way in heck I could be a teacher. Yay for BOB books! We used several sets of them for Rhett a few years ago. Dang, I gave them away, but didn’t even think of sending them to you. Rhett really liked them, and yes, they were the first books he actually “read” on his own. I feel like once you see the reading “click,” it seems like the reading floodgates open and there’s such a difference.
Rhett had a mini-meltdown after school yesterday over something he supposedly learned in school, but that he had no clue about. Every Friday, the teacher sends home 5 questions for the parents to ask their kids, to spark discussion over what they learned that week. Apparently, they started learning what nouns and verbs are. So, I asked Rhett one of the questions about nouns and verbs. And he was clueless. I get frustrated with him sometimes, when there is a new concept he is learning at school, and he comes home acting clueless about it. Like he wasn’t even sitting in the dang classroom listening and doing the work. I get tired of him doing this, so I try to keep my cool, but I do get frustrated with him. It’s like anything new will take a bunch of repetition before he even understands what in the heck he is even learning. There are a few things he takes to right away & he picks up quickly, but he does frustrate the heck out of me with this issue.
