Yes! I loved how Willie had previously asked Jamie why he did not look back at him when he was going away from Helwater. And then, this time, he did look back! Loved that!
ITA with you about Bree. I don’t think it’s mean. I think a lot of fans of the book and/or show do not like her and her storylines, and that’s okay. With such a robust book with so many characters, there are bound to be characters that we hate, or love to hate. I never liked Bree, never! She drove me crazy and annoyed me throughout the book, and the show is/will be the same. Nothing will make me like her. I think once she went back in time, that sealed the deal for me. I was done, done, done. I think that was a terrible decision on DG’s fault. I would have been able to tolerate her more if she had stayed in the future. And then I hate when she goes back to the future. And the kids are in that mine tunnel thing & they can hear a time portal, and it seems like Bree and/or her kid/s may go back in time again. Ugh! GMAFB!! Just leave her in the future & forget about her. Honestly, I feel like she is a completely pointless character. It’s like DG created her to tie Jamie and Claire together during the time they were apart. A crappy plot device. And then DG was like, oh crap, what do I do with her now? And then Bree is foisted on us for the rest of the series. Jamie & Claire’s story and love story were certainly strong enough to stand on their own. They did not need a “child” to keep them emotionally connected. Barf!
Contrast that to how DG introduced and dealt with Willie. The complete opposite. I never feel like he is foisted on us as readers. His character is more organic. He doesn’t come across as a desperate plot device, and I feel like DG “knew” what to do with him.
I did really like Roger in the book for the most part. His scenes with Bree were the most terrible, but other than that, I did like him. I feel like the role is completely miscast, and I do not like the actor or his portrayal at all. Hate it! So, the show is making me hate show-Roger, even though I was okay with book-Roger.
Okay, I’m going to bring it up, not trying to be a party-pooper, but just can’t help myself. Can we talk about Jamie and Claire’s cabin? With just Jamie, Ian and Claire, they manage to build this Lincoln-Log perfect cabin in the middle of the North Carolina mountains?? What the hell?!? No way is that realistic. The structure, the roof, the whole damn thing is way too perfect to be realistic. I would have liked to see a little more realism with that set. And, the forest is starting to tick me off because even I can tell that the trees and foliage they show do not look like the trees in the North Carolina mountains! The foliage is all wrong. Even the sky and weather is totally Scotland, where they are shooting. I feel like even in the close shots, I can tell the difference. The whole thing just irks the crap out of me. And I continue my complaints of them not shooting in the U.S. because it’s not a union show, blah, blah, blah. I am not fooled. But, whatever. That is all nit-picky stuff that’s just fun to moan & groan about because, hey, it wouldn’t be as fun if I didn’t haha!
