I am on the complete other side. I absolutely loved episode 9. Loved it even more after the second watch. It was Jamie-Claire centric, which is where the show shines more. I really liked the small moments in this episode – Jamie observing Bree across the table; Bree present in daily, simple life on the ridge. Jamie realizing he doesn’t want to let his daughter go was one of my favorites. I think the season needed this episode to build on that relationship and give us a break from Bree’s horrors. Even more so since they didn’t take the time for Bree to ‘get to know’ Jamie through their family in Scotland.
This episode, I finally warmed up to Bree. Not just because I feel for her & what she went through but because I felt like she fit. I could see both Claire & Jamie in her which I never fully embraced, even in the books. That’s probably why I really tuned them out and forgot most of the book stuff. lol Of course, I’ll probably be piping mad at her the next episode
The ‘reunion’ – just right. Sam really nails the nuances in his emotions & that showed in this episode. Even the hollowness he feels from not being able to raise his own children – a man destined to be a father – it oozes in every one of his scenes with his kids.
