Malia’s birthday was a huge success! I’m exhausted. lol
We, of course, sent invitations to each of the kids in her class. They all RSVP’d yes. Oy! I wasn’t expecting that. lol
It was really cool to see Malia in her social element though. She has her circle of close friends that I know of, but to see her with all of her classmates was kind of eye opening. She’s incredibly social, friendly and genuine with each and everyone. She gives each one her time and energy in a way even I never mastered. She’s so generous and attentive. And they all ADORE her, boys & girls alike. I can totally see her being class president. There are 2 girls though that definitely battle for her affections. B is our neighbor and her best friend. C is the girl that Malia’s kind of supported through Kinder and 1st grade. But C – wow, she kind of picks on B and makes a point of saying things like “Malia and I are going to walk/play over here by ourselves” or she’s always rushing to be by Malia’s side so B can’t sit there. She comes from a pretty tumultuous background so we’re all sympathetic to it but it’s amazing how that behavior manifests at such an early age. Malia, thankfully, is very giving with her time so B never feels left out on Malia’s account. But B has definitely been moved to tears on more than one occasion. Her mom and I are always keeping an eye on those 2.
