Loved episode 2! I’ve heard so much criticism about it online alongside the 4 people that I watched with. During the entire episode, i kept going back to this quote from ROTK.
Pippin: It’s so quiet.
Gandalf: It’s the deep breath before the plunge.
The calm before the storm. Conversations needed to be had. If you believed that it quite possibly would be the last night you were alive, wouldn’t you want to have the talks with certain people? Wouldn’t you let bygones be bygones? My SIL and I were chatting about it yesterday and she was like it was so cliched and it was slow. I’m like, you need the slow before the big battle. GoT has never been about the big action scenes. It’s the dialogue and plotting and backstabbing. My first watch was with my SIL and 3 friends. I watched it again that night on my own. So glad I did..
Brienne being knighted was one of my all time favorite scenes. The look between her and Podrick was perfect. Arya and Gendry. I love them. Always have. Always will. I like that their scenes were slightly awkward. Arya hasn’t been Arya for a long time. The fact that she took ownership and control of a piece of Arya was great. It showed her trust in Gendry. I have to say, I’m not as big of a fan of Dany as I used to be. I’m kind of indifferent to her. Don’t love her. Don’t hate her.
I can keep going on. They reminded us what we loved about majority of these characters so we can be thoroughly gutted when some of them die…😭.
