I really enjoyed this read. It wasn’t overdone on the science/math/physics stuff but you still get the breadth of the impact it had on the world.
It is sad how these women truly lived on the edge of history. It’s amazing that it took so long for their part in such an epic story of American history to finally be told or introduced to mainstream. When I think of all the films and stories about this time, I chalked it up to the Mrs. Cleaver’s of the area. That’s where the women were. It’s amazing how many women played such an integral part. Sad and amazing in the same breath.
What I found really intriguing and wonderful was the support these women had at home. The men in their lives encouraged and pushed them to excellence – from father’s to husbands. They had an incredible support system that helped them to their successes I don’t recall the name of the gentleman who had a wife in the Math division – but she ended up leaving to become a wife & SAHM while her husband continued on with his success in NASA. For white women, I feel like the roles were very different than their black counterparts. That was really interesting to me.
I’m really looking forward to watching the movie. Good read!
