January 5, 2017 at 8:37 am #3627I’m excited to see your furniture finds Mary! They look so cool. I love anything old 🙂
January 5, 2017 at 9:43 am #3632I’ve had this growing addiction for them. The thrift stores in our area are great. They get great pieces and offer great discounts. The dresser I found for Maxim’s room is awesome. I’m painting that one blue. 🙂
January 6, 2017 at 8:47 am #3648I think California has one of the best thrift store/antique markets in the country from what I hear. So cool!
January 6, 2017 at 1:15 pm #3660The Alameda Antique fair is every month and it is one of the best in the country. But it’s definitely pricey. Yikes! You find some really unique and special pieces though
We’ve had a surge of shops pop-up that refurbish furniture. Sometimes you find a good deal but you definitely get a bigger bargain when you flip/recover it yourself. I’m amazed at some of the piece that are just given away.I’m on the hunt for a new buffet for the formal dining room. It won’t store any fancy china but I store the kids craft supplies in our current buffet. I want one that’s bigger than the one I have and has more craftsmanship to it.
May 30, 2017 at 12:45 pm #4203I took on another project. We’ve been trying to find a bed for Maxim’s room. He’s still got his toddler bed. Found a great headboard over the weekend that I need to clean and paint. I’m excited to get it complete and in his room. I think he’s got the cutest room in the house.
Malia, on the other hand, is still waiting for me to paint her dresser pink. She keeps seeing me paint things for Maxim’s room and now needs a little love too. 🙂 I just need to convince her that GRAY is better. lol I’ll probably cave and do a coral type color for her Ikea dresser.

October 24, 2017 at 9:02 am #4417Rhett’s pocket door was completed last week! So exciting!! The guys did a good job with it. Rhett loves it. I had been wanting this since Rhett was born, and we realized what a problem his bathroom door really was. Was finally able to pull the trigger on it. It was a big job. We had to take everything out of his room, except his bed stayed. They had to remove one side of the wall to install the kit. The drywall dust is always the worst. That stuff is horrible & gets on everything, seeping everywhere in the house if you don’t block it. I was able to keep it under control, but it took a looooot of work. Rhett happened to be really sick during the week they were working, so that was a pain in the rear. He napped in the guest room those days, but couldn’t wait to get his room back poor guy.
Anyway, it’s much more functional now. The bathroom seems twice as big. It is awesome. Rhett no longer has to shimmy & shuffle around the door when it’s open. Yay!

January 30, 2018 at 5:41 pm #4766Broken foyer window…fixed. Shower door hinge…fixed. New TV to replace dead TV in playroom…waiting to be installed. So many projects going on!
The work in my craft room/library is about to get underway next week. I’m super excited! This has been years in the making, and since we weren’t able to get it done in 2017, here we are. I was never able to hire a designer, as nobody would take the job. I enjoy doing it, but was nervous on this expensive of a project. But, I’m happy with all of my choices, and I guess I’m glad I don’t have to pay a designer now. The new floor is getting installed next week. Then probably paint. Then the built in closets in there and in our office too. Then the built in shelving! So excited! I wasn’t able to get a built in reading nook since the room is too small, so we’re building shelves with lighting around a day bed. I can’t wait! I have the area rug, where I’ll get my paint color from. All of the old furniture is given away, or moving to other rooms. My closet is temporarily holding all my sewing & craft stuff & all photos & some books right now, so it looks cray cray in there.
Rhett is also getting some built in shelf towers, and some new lighting in his room. He is excited for his books to have their own space soon.
