OMG, this library project is never ending! But, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The shelves were installed a few weeks ago. They look pretty good. But, they were painted last week and I am not happy with the paint. Rhett’s shelves came out better. So, we have paint issues to address after spring break. Rhett’s lighting is kick ass, and we love it. My lighting looks great. I went with a vintage-style fixture, of course. My hardware is super cute, again it’s vintage inspired. My cornice board is awesome. A lady on Etsy made it with my vintage 1950s barkcloth fabric. It’s here waiting to be hung after the painters get out. I will not order a stick of furniture until all of these workers are out of here. I have everything picked out, so I can’t wait to get it all in.

April 7, 2018 at 5:53 pm #4884Yes! I will definitely do a post. It will be fun for me to see the Before and After pics. I always love those. This is a dream come true to have a great, dedicated reading space, and a better space to do my crafting hobbies. I am getting so excited about it. Hopefully, I will be able to enjoy it for a few weeks before Rhett gets out of school. I have some fabric to make pillows for the bed, so that will be my first sewing project in there.
May 3, 2018 at 11:01 am #4949My library is done! Rhett’s room is done! Everything is finally done! Happy dance! I am just making some pillows right now, and need to frame a puzzle. Pics to come…
January 9, 2019 at 5:45 am #56262019 will hopefully be the year we get our 4-season room/screen porch done! I am beyond excited. We have been in the house 10 years, and have a beautiful lot that we just don’t make the best use of. We feel like if we don’t just do it, we’ll never do it and get to really enjoy it. Minimally, we will do a screen porch with some deck for our grill & table too. I would prefer a 4-season room with windows if we can swing it. But, if Scott’s eyes bug-out at that cost, we’ll just dial back to a screen porch. I will just be happy that we can finally kick back out there & really enjoy it without all of the heat, bugs, bats, you name it, it’s out there!
We would like to do an outdoor living space at the same time. Some of our friends have done fireplaces in their screen porch, but I don’t want to do that. Scott would like a fire pit out in the yard, so we’re aiming for that.
And finally, we’d love to get a concrete slab poured out there for Scott & Rhett to have a basketball hoop. Scott loves to shoot hoops, and it would be much better in the backyard for Rhett & his friends as they get older.
After all is said and done, I still want to grow some food out there, but I will have to see the layout of the yard once everything is done. So, it may be a few years before I’m willing to put in the work to do that.
Do you have any home projects on tap in 2019? What plans or projects do you have for your house or yard this year??
January 9, 2019 at 9:50 am #5627Ohhhh – love all that outdoor space fun!
I purged so much stuff in our backyard to make it less cluttered and more relaxing. I got rid of my teak dining table. My visions of outdoor dining with the family did not come to fruition as they all have bad allergies and the usual fear of bugs that kids have. lol The good news is that I was able to turn that area into a great sitting & yoga space. I’m hoping to add a fire pit to that area too.
Last spring, we had a garden that made more sense & was manageable for our family. Lots of peppers (I like heat), artichoke, strawberries and eggplant. Green beans & zucchini were super successful too. I was pretty happy with our garden
I’m focusing on getting my office redone. I’m scaling back on photography and have been purging a lot of props and dresses. It’s really opening up space to store my craft supplies, give me a reading space & work on my computer without the clutter. Soooo much better! I need to repaint the walls since they’re still nursery yellow. lol I hope to get the main wall done, at least. That’s where I’ll be putting my wall organization so that wall needs to be done first.
Malia’s room needs a rehaul too. She’s definitely moving into pre-tween (is that a thing? lol) but the little toys and dolls are a thing of the past. She’s got a creative soul so I hope to add a nice desk where she can do her artwork & creative pursuits. She REALLY wants me to paint her dresser pink. I’m holding off as long as possible hoping she’ll let me paint it gray instead. I have some girly knobs that I can add to it to make it really pretty but I really do not want to do pink. Coral, maybe, but no baby or barbie pink. NO!
January 9, 2019 at 5:51 pm #5633Oooooh, all that sounds cool! Can’t wait to see some of the things you do. So glad you were able to do a little garden! So nice to have your own little fruits and veggies in your own backyard.
March 12, 2019 at 6:04 pm #5812Getting quotes for our porch/sunroom…getting exciting…
March 13, 2019 at 8:26 am #5814My mom is moving into my house for awhile so it’s in general chaos. Ugh! March has been absolutely insane and I’m beyond ready for it to get back to normal.
March 14, 2019 at 7:34 am #5817Is she excited about moving into her new place soon?
