As long as Rhett doesn’t make me do the rides that go around & around, I’m good. Lordy, I can not handle things that just spin around anymore. I get dizzy in a flash & it’s not pretty!
School starts tomorrow! I don’t think I’ll ever truly be used to this schedule, after growing up going to school up north. I would LOVE for them to eliminate the February week break and swap that out for one more week in the summer. That would be ideal, but I don’t think it’s changing anytime soon.
July 31, 2019 at 9:14 pm #6259Yay! Malia got an invite to join the swim team! WOOT WOOT!
I’m going to put Max in more lessons to make sure he doesn’t lose any of the skills he learned this summer.I’m also thinking of putting him in something like archery. He has an aptitude for things like shooting (and non-team type sports). we’ll see. This boy is so difficult!
August 1, 2019 at 6:08 am #6260Yay Malia. That sounds so fun. Would Max do Boy Scouts or karate or anything like that?
Well, shoot, Rhett made me cry this morning cuz he took this little heart doily from his craft drawer & wrote “I’ll miss you at school.” Waterworks! 🙁 I just walked into his playroom, and cried like a baby cuz it’s so empty without him. 🙁 I’m cleaning & doing yard work to stay busy. Ugh, I hate the first day of school!
August 1, 2019 at 8:16 am #6262He starts Muay Thai next week but he barely tolerated the free class we put him in. He needs it because kids pick on him and his feelings get hurt. I want to build up his confidence and learn how to stand up for himself. He likes private lessons where he can really connect with the instructor. Add in people, and he immediately disconnects. He’s just so shy! A couple more years and I’ll put him in golf or tennis.
even in swim, he only truly participated when the class size was small. If it was full, he went to the wall and floated by himself. SMH
Awww first day of school! 🙂 He’ll be done before you know it!
August 11, 2019 at 5:13 pm #6278OMG, Rhett is going through some damn hormones (and likely another growth spurt, sigh). But OMG, if it is this bad at 9-years old, I am literally crawling under my bed scared of what is to come in the tween years. Ugh! Usually, Rhett is a very good boy and we have no major issues with him. But today, this child was like Linda Blair “Exorcist” level haha! Parenting felt super shitty today, and sometimes I wish we could get a day off from parenting like other jobs have 🙂
August 13, 2019 at 3:18 pm #6284Oh girl – here’s a virtual drink for ya!
Was it a one time thing or ongoing?August 14, 2019 at 6:19 am #6285Hopefully one time! At the end of the day, we talked about how he just had a bad day, and that’s okay, it happens. And he can start over the next day. This is the dumb thing about parenting and kids in situations like this…the whole thing was over nothing. There was nothing specific that was a problem. Hormones! Ugh!
January 14, 2020 at 12:21 pm #6645Malia cracks me up. Apparently she saw a friend of hers sitting in the front seat of a car. I told her that she had to be a little bigger and older before that could happen & that her friend probably shouldn’t be in the front seat.
Well, she hit the 50 pound mark this week and is acting like she just won the lottery. lol
January 17, 2020 at 6:01 pm #6664She is too cute! It must be fun as a kid to dream of sitting in the front seat. Unlike when we were little & we sat in the front bench seats of our parents’ & grandparents’ cars as freakin’ toddlers with no thought to safety haha! I always joke with my Mom & say “it’s a miracle we survived” 🙂 🙂
Rhett is about 90 pounds now. He has a little under an inch until he can be done with his booster seat for good (it’s 4 feet, 9 inches here). He is super close, and counting down that last 1/2 inch haha! But, even then he can’t sit in the front seat until he is 12. I have pulled up the laws & showed him a zillion times. Cuz here’s the thing…when he was about 4 or 5, he asked us “how old do I have to be to sit in the front seat?” Being the awesome rookie parents that we are, we didn’t know the answer off the top of our heads, so we made some sh*t up. And we just arbitrarily said “9 years old.” Well, this kid does not forget anything! He remembered this for years, and as he approached 9, he kept talking about sitting in the front seat. And I was like, um, not until you’re 12. And he told us that he remembered us telling him “9 years old.” Ugh! Stupid us!! It took a good month for him to get over it. He never lets us forget that we made up this lie haha! 🙂 🙂
January 18, 2020 at 12:55 pm #6666Seriously – dreaming big! ha ha!
Yeah, I highly doubt Malia will find herself in the front seat. She & Max are constantly on the lookout for each other and the DVD player is in the back. The likelyhood of her meeting all requirements is slim. While she has long legs, she’s super lean. I imagine she’ll meet height requirements but not the weight, even at 12. And with all the activities she participates in, she’ll likely stay lean. Her metabolism is super high. -
