What are you watching this season?
January 16, 2017 at 6:19 am #3724We read Big Little Lies a few years back as a BOTM, and I saw that it’s going to be a series on HBO in Feburary. I didn’t LOVE the book, but it was okay, so I may check out the show.
January 30, 2017 at 5:54 am #3804I’m not loving “Victoria” on Masterpiece. It’s pretty boring, and not super good, IMO. It does what it’s supposed to do in presenting a pretty picture and a dramatization of Victoria’s early reign. But, it’s nothing special. I just haven’t connected with Jenna Coleman, obviously being Victoria, it makes it harder for me to enjoy it. And the dramatizing of things is kind of boring and ho-hum. Either keep it straight forward, like Wolf Hall, or go over the top, like Versailles. Not a fan of the “sort of” soap opera drama. I do looooove Rufus Sewell, and enjoy seeing him. When he’s gone, I’ll be sad.
On a better note, the 2nd season of Mercy Street is good so far. I really like it, and can’t wait to see more.

oh good. I’m not the only one watching Victoria and thinking, geez, I’m bored. I was so looking forward to it too, if not a little concerned re: Jenna Coleman. (I never particularly liked Clara on Doctor Who). It’s like they couldn’t decide what direction to take and so settled on mediocre.
February 1, 2017 at 1:26 pm #3828Oh, is she from Doctor Who? Yeah, I’m just not loving her. Something about her just bothers me & I just haven’t connected with her. Nope, you’re definitely not the only one. I know it was a ratings juggernaut in the UK, going up against Poldark’s time slot over there. I’m just not “wow’ed” by it. I like the history, but the actual show, not so much. Again, Rufus S. helps a lot, and when he’s gone, I’m going to struggle, lol
February 10, 2017 at 11:38 am #3868Anyone going to check out The White Princess, based on Philippa Gregory book also called The White Princess
February 15, 2017 at 6:08 pm #3870I think I’m going to pass on this one. I tried the other PG show briefly, was it the White Queen? Shoot, I don’t even remember. Anyhow, I didn’t like it much. This looks very similar. I have too many historicals I’m watching at once, I’m trying hard not to add anything new. If I had unlimited time, I’d probably check it out just for the heck of it.
March 6, 2017 at 9:32 am #3963OMG, loving Feud: Bette and Joan. Old Hollywood camp and I love it!
Mercy Street ended on a strong note last night, and I’m looking forward to the next season. Victoria ended the season last night too, which I’m not sad about. It needs to be put out of its boring misery : )

Sadly, I read that Mercy Street has been canceled with reasons given as cost/funding and production timeline issues.
I wanted so badly to like Victoria, but it was so boring. I still haven’t been able to will myself to watch the last 2 episodes.
Anyone watch To Walk Invisible about the Bronte sisters? I’ve heard it’s pretty good.
April 10, 2017 at 6:56 am #4041Kat–oh, that is sad about Mercy Street 🙁 I hadn’t heard that. I will have to check out the news. I loved that show!!
The last 2 eppies of Victoria were a snooze fest. I literally fell asleep watching! Don’t think I will watch it next season.
I saw the promos for the Bronte sisters’ show. I was undecided about it. If I have time I’d like to check it out to see what it’s like.
