I finally had a chance to watch Big Little Lies. It was okay for me. I didn’t love the book that much, but found the show to be more entertaining than the book. Mostly because I really enjoyed all of the actresses in the show. They did a great job with the material. The show was definitely a little too over the top soap-melodramatic for me, but it kept me entertained because of that 🙂 I felt like it was slower the first 3 or 4 episodes, and the last episode with the big finale was super-rushed. If you liked the book, you’d probably like the show. If you didn’t like the book too much, the show is still quick and easy to watch.
May 8, 2017 at 9:10 am #4159I watched The White Princess episodes over the weekend and am liking it. Whenever I watch that time period, I like to do a historical read-up on them and I’m happy that in a general sense, Henry & Lizzie did love each other. There’s so much tragedy in that era that I hate getting invested to much, knowing that the women were in loveless marriages or eventually beheaded or something to the effect. LOL
But gah – the MOMs. WTH – the political manipulations between these women is crazy!
May 15, 2017 at 1:13 pm #4169Cool, glad you like it. I often overlook Henry VII and Elizabeth of York because of the strong monarchs and drama surrounding them before and after. They definitely aren’t the dramatic, glamorous figures in the history books. That’s cool the show brings them to life more.
Okay, I finally watched the Anne of Green Gables (2016) movie. It was a little over 2 hours. So, it wasn’t a big investment of time. It was okay. It was nothing fabulous. I actually did enjoy the pace of it, fitting into the 2 hours made it continuously move along, which I liked. Ella B. who played Anne, was okay. The character is kind of annoying at first in the book too, and she was definitely kind of annoying on screen. Then, little by little, you get used to her and like her more. Her hair was dyed, of course, and that bothers me. Find a red-headed little girl actress!! I really like Martin Sheen, and thought he was good as Matthew. But, I hated his hair, which wasn’t period correct & was just his normal Sheen-do haha!. Sara B. as Marilla was less dour than Colleen Dewhurst in the Megan F. version. The scenery was pretty. Not sure where it was actually filmed, but I did like all of the landscapes and structures. The music/soundtrack had a Celtic bent. It was pretty, not over the top.
Overall, it was okay. Nothing to rave about. Just entertained me for 2 hours, but not something I would go back and watch again. Not sure if they’re doing a ‘sequel.’ But, it certainly lends itself to it. Just no real reason to have made this movie, not an improvement on the Megan F. version!
May 30, 2017 at 12:39 pm #4201Anyone still watch GH? I just noticed that they’ve got new writers and that they don’t seem to be doing very well. And Tracy is gone? I unliked the GH page on FB a while ago but check in every now and then to see if they’re still pitting Liz fans against Sam fans. lol
June 4, 2017 at 5:56 pm #4218I have continued to be GH free, going on a year and a half now. I haven’t watched it, read any news or spoilers or anything. I have a few friends who still watch, and when we get together, they tell me what’s going on. I was sad at first to be without it, but I really haven’t missed it and am glad I freed up that time in my life.
October 24, 2017 at 10:43 am #4420I am semi semi semi tempted to check into GH to see the Jason/Patient 6 reveal. I can’t help it – I love Steve Burton. I just don’t know if I love him THAT much. lol
October 24, 2017 at 7:00 pm #4426haha! Me too! I’ll probably turn it on for a minute this week, just to see what Steve’s like on there now. But, I definitely won’t be getting sucked into watching the show as a whole anymore. I love the time that I reclaimed from not watching anymore. My friends and sister were blowing up my phone the past few weeks with all the Jason stuff. So funny. they like to tell me what’s going on : )
October 25, 2017 at 12:26 pm #4428LOL – I just check into the General Hospital page on FB to see some screen clips. I try to avoid the comments as the hatred still burns hot depending on the character/actress in question. lol
But the few clips I’ve seen of Jason have been nice. I miss seeing him on screen when he’s showing a emotion.
November 6, 2017 at 6:24 am #4440Haha! “When he’s showing an emotion.” So true! When he became too “cyborg-ish” that’s when I just couldn’t like him anymore. Oh, and his constant bromance with Sonny! Ugh!
November 29, 2017 at 10:16 am #4561Wow – Matt Lauer getting fired! My first thought went to Ann Curry. It’ll be interesting to see this unfold.
