Where are you traveling to this year?
March 22, 2017 at 12:58 pm #4007We had a mini vacation to Reno, Nevada. It’s about a 3 hour drive from where we live. We let the kids play in the snow, play at Circus Circus and enjoy hot chocolate at the different cafes. Mike, of course, loves the casinos. 🙂
I head to Washington DC and Baltimore next week. I hope the cherry blossoms are still in bloom. But I’m looking forward to spending time with family and doing some photography.
No other trips planned yet for the year. I’m looking forward to seeing Mellie in September. WOO HOO! And I’m hoping to spend Christmas in Maui. Fingers crossed!
April 6, 2017 at 4:16 pm #4034Woo Hoo! I’m back from my visit to Maryland. Always a good time when I visit the cousins. We went to Philly for a day, Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland. We ate a lot and walked alot. I really enjoyed our visit to Arlington Cemetery. That was my first time and it was the highlight of our trip. I did see the cherry blossoms but it was super windy & cold, and not very enjoyable to just walk and explore. Next time!
In Maryland, I loved exploring Fells Point. I had a Senior Portrait session in the area and it was perfect. I loved the buildings and waterfront. Lots of restaurants to eat (again).
Relatively short trip but very enjoyable.
April 10, 2017 at 6:51 am #4039Yay! Glad your trip was good. Was excited to see your pics. Honestly, you’ve been some places that I never even went to all the years I lived up there, haha! Fells Point is cool. That is great that you got to do a photo shoot there. You’re a world traveller photo shooter! Awesome for your portfolio. I still love the pics that you took of Rhett down here. Especially the Braves stadium pics, now that the stadium is gone 🙁
I’m super excited to see you later this year, and meet your kiddos! (I’m gonna Email you this week or next to finalize!)
Rhett just had his Spring Break, so we went to Hilton Head, which is a shoe-shaped island in southern South Carolina, about 4-5 hours from Atlanta area. My step-mom’s family had a house on the beach for many years, and when they passed, she took it over. It’s a great getaway for us. It has become a lot more crowded there compared to when I first started going in the mid-90s. But, it was a fun trip. Not as warm as I would like, but Rhett has so much fun playing with my parents’ dogs, and he had a blast wading in the ocean and riding bikes. He was even willing to get a little dirty and build sand castles 🙂
We are going to the U.S. Virgin Islands in June. I”m super excited about that, as I’ve never been anywhere in the Caribbean before. Hopefully, we’ll love it and want to go back! We want to take Rhett to Hawaii soooo bad, so we’re starting with a shorter plane ride to the VI first 🙂
Our 20th high school reunion is this year, but Scott says he does not want to go. Oh well. We might try to get a trip in up to Maryland & Penn if we can. Maybe around Thanksgiving if we have to, but I hate it up there in November cuz it’s too cold for me! 🙂
No trips to Orlando or Disney this year. My Dad & step-mom plan to still be living there in 2018, so we’ll probably go back then. We’d love to do a few other parks we haven’t done yet, and Rhett wants to do more rides!
That’s about it! Some fun trips to look forward to.
April 10, 2017 at 11:51 am #4047Ohhhh, that’s some good travel! My cousin was married in the USVI – I just had Max though so I was unable to attend. My sister’s photos were pretty.
April 19, 2017 at 5:04 am #4075We’re excited. USVI sounds like a cool destination wedding. We’re excited to check it out. Next year, we’d like to maybe do the Hawaii trip. And would like to go somewhere in Europe in 2019. It’s so tricky, cuz I know Rhett being a 7 or 8 year old kid would not be interested in all the historical stuff in Europe. I really need to research what we could do that would be more “fun” for a kid. He does like castles, so that’s a start 🙂
October 24, 2017 at 1:34 pm #4423I’m going to start doing the leg work for a Mediterranean Cruise for next year. I wasn’t sure I wanted to do a cruise or plan my excursions myself. But I want the kids to come so looks like a cruise it is! 🙂 I’m looking forward to it. I want to see Croatia and Santorini. I’m hoping it’ll lead to future visits there too.
October 24, 2017 at 6:49 pm #4425Cool! That will be so fun. A great way to get over there with the kiddos, since you can still have the structure of the cruise and see lots of cool places at the same time.
So excited that we are both going to Maui in 2018! Wish we could have timed it with you all. That would’ve been so fun for the kids! We wanted to do it in 2018, so glad we are able to make that work. Scott really wanted to do it in February during Rhett’s break, so that was that haha!
We told Rhett about it yesterday, and showed him on the globe. He is super-excited. He has been talking non-stop about the plane ride. When we said we were going to Maui, he said “like Maui from Moana?” haha! We explained to him that Hawaii is a state, and has many islands, and Maui is one island. And he said “what is this? Moana?”
We are planning to go to New York City in the fall of next year during Rhett’s school break, so that will be fun too. Rhett wants to see all the touristy stuff he learned about in school.
We will be visiting my Dad in Orlando in 2018. I think we will skip Disney and go to Universal instead since Rhett’s never been there, and Scott gets a discount since Comcast owns Universal.
Excited for 2018 travels. Still have one more trip this year, up to Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving with my family. Rhett’s excited to go visiting.
October 25, 2017 at 10:00 am #4427February and September are my favorite times to visit Maui. But February is awesome because it’s still whale season. And most of the whales would have given birth so it’s a beautiful time.
November 6, 2017 at 6:22 am #4439Fingers crossed we get to see some whales! Thanks for all the recommendations. I will definitely document what we do, and let you know how everything turns out. I am reading Maui Revealed right now. And it seems like a super popular guide book to follow, but I like that it has everything all in one book, even if we don’t do so many of the things that are recommended. We will be focusing on whatever is kid-friendly, and a combination of relaxing and fun activities.
