Just did a huge book order for me (and Rhett 😉 ) Yes, I am still OBSESSED with all things British history. I’d love to get through this stack in 2019. Oh, and I need to add “I Anastasia” to my next order Mary, cuz it sounded cool (I forgot to put it in this order!)
June 24, 2019 at 9:53 am #6167THAT is an awesome set! Oh the historicals!
June 24, 2019 at 10:00 am #6171I just bought the second book to the Emma of Normandy series I started.
June 24, 2019 at 6:00 pm #6175I’d probably like that too! Gah!
I’m an idiot though, cuz I remembered after the fact, that I have already read “Roxana” years ago. D’oh! Gonna give my extra copy to a fellow novel-lover friend.
Hey, did you notice the Rosalind Miles book “I, Elizabeth” in the stack? You turned me on to her when we read the Isolde series waaaay back in the day. I’ve been wanting to read something else by her, and this looked like a good option.

June 25, 2019 at 9:16 am #6182Yes! That RM book is on my TBR list.
It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Bernard Cornwell book. I think I have a couple in my bookcase that needs dusting off.June 28, 2019 at 5:06 am #6184I’ll let you know when I get to the RM book, maybe that can be a BOTM so you can get to it too.
BC is so easy to read. His research is very good. I’ve never read a book of his that I don’t like 🙂
July 15, 2019 at 11:01 am #6215I enjoyed The Price of Blood. It took me awhile to get used to the narrator (audio book) as her speech was halting. I felt like she kept breaking the sentences up into fragments & it was a little distracting. Once I got over that though, I really enjoyed the nuances to her accents to bring the different characters to life. It definitely added to the story.
The pace was a little slower than the first but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Emma’s character is very well written. I love her calm, her control & her intelligence. I look forward to the 3rd to see how her story evolved and how it will involve Cnut.
November 7, 2019 at 2:35 pm #6528I decided to take a quick detour from BOTM. I picked up The Gilded Hour by Sara Donati. If you read her Wildnerness series, this series picks up 2 generations later with Hannah Granddaughter. So far I’m really liking it. The setting is great & the conflict is different.
November 9, 2019 at 6:57 am #6533Cool Mary! Thanks for the recommendation. That would be a good one for me to try in 2020!
January 14, 2020 at 9:08 am #6628Happy New Year! Whew – the hubbub of the holidays is finally winding down and I’m getting some reading time in. I’m reading The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman. So far so good!
What’s everyone else reading?
