Ugh – been fighting off getting sick. Malia had it, Mike had it….and now I’m feeling it. No one has time for that!
And the first month of the year is super busy. Is it that way for anyone else?January 9, 2019 at 5:41 pm #5631Feel better! No fun being sick to start the year off!! January is usually slower for me as a SAHM for sure, after the craziness at school & in the house around the holidays, basically from Halloween through my birthday. Scott also has a somewhat slower time at work in January, but that’s only if you call day-trips to Philadelphia “slow.” For some reason, a bunch of VPs have decided that going to meetings in Philly just for the day is a good idea. Scott had to do it on Monday, and he has to do it again. Ugh! His work is never truly “slow.” We have a slower January as a family because the craziness of baseball doesn’t start until February. Once that happens, we have no life haha! (kidding, but not kidding!)
January 15, 2019 at 5:04 am #5675When we were in Florida during the break, we went to see Aquaman with my parents. When Scott was coming to pick us all up at the curb, an 18-year old kid backed into my car in the parking lot. I was pissed. I was cursing at the kid, and my Dad was trying to get me to calm down haha! My car is my 2nd baby, so I was none too pleased. When we walked across the parking lot and Rhett saw the car, he cried 🙁 He is very attached to my car, and he was upset there was a boo-boo on it, poor guy. The front passenger door got caved in a little bit, so we can’t open it all the way. And there is some front/side bumper damage. We were able to drive it home okay, so that is good. I did not get my annual birthday car wash, so I was sad about that. The damage could have been a lot worse, so it’ll be fine. It took forever for the insurance company to deal with the kid cuz he was driving his mommy’s car, and we figure he probably didn’t want to tell her about it. Anyway, after 3 weeks, we are taking it to the adjuster this week. Then it will go into the shop. I have to pull Rhett’s beast of a seat out so it won’t get disgusting in the shop, so I am not happy about that, because moving that seat is super hard! I’ll drive Scott’s car with a seat already in it, and Scott will drive the loaner car. All of this is a pain in the butt incovenience too, but we gotta do what we gotta do.
January 15, 2019 at 8:27 am #5676Ugh – the inconvenience of it all is such a pain. Glad no one was hurt but yeah, what a pain. Poor Rhett!
January 15, 2019 at 9:01 am #5680Rhett is our calendar-keeper, constantly reminding us what day we are taking the car in, etc. It stresses him out that my car is beat up haha!
January 17, 2019 at 1:00 pm #5695This feels like the longest week, eeeeevvvveeeeer! It’s my first full week at work (no sick days, school appts, etc) and I feel like I’ve been here forever. Totally can’t wait for the weekend to get here. Speaking of which, I start my first hula class this Saturday! I’ve only ever danced Tahitian which has varying technique. I’m totally looking forward to learning more Hawaiian culture. Even more excited that I get to share it with Malia.
January 18, 2019 at 3:39 pm #5706Finally! I finally got my reduced hours approved at work. Now I can be off work around 2:00, pick up the kids and set-up a more manageable schedule for them. I’m relieved. Poor Malia, with her added tutoring in the evenings, she’s not having dinner until almost 7 and is exhausted by the time she’s in bed. Fortunately I am to keep all of my benefits intact – medical, dental, vacation, etc. It’s a 20% reduction in salary but I’m hoping I can make that up with my real estate or photography.
January 18, 2019 at 3:45 pm #5707Have fun with your class Mary! That sounds fun!!
Yay for your new schedule! That is great. I am glad you were able to make something work out better for you.
February 4, 2019 at 11:00 am #5748Today is the first day of my new schedule. Seriously, the gift of time….a winner!
I was able to change Malia’s tutoring & activity schedule to an earlier time so that she can have dinner at a decent time. I’m totally looking forward to this. And it’s February guys! One month down!
February 6, 2019 at 10:02 am #5752Yay! So glad you got to do that. OMG, it’s February and the countdown to Cali is on…getting excited!
