It’s been a crazy few weeks. 🙁 There’s been a round robin effect at our house with colds and stomach bugs. All the work that went into preparing Malia’s birthday totally knocked me out. I was out of commission completely the following Monday.
Her birthday was a lot of fun though. It’s funny how much 1 year can change a kid. Last year, she was completely in awe of “Princess Aurora”. This year, she wasn’t so much. While she was excited to see Moana, she really wanted to play in her room with her friends. lol Perhaps my princess party days are numbered. 😛
Part of it is, she always wants to be the lead. She wants her friends to follow her. Once they saw Moana, they were all about the princess and not so much about her. ha ha. Once she was interested in Moana on HER terms, it was much more enjoyable for her. It all turned out very well though. My fingers are now recovered from making all of the headpieces for the girls..February 22, 2017 at 9:57 am #3896
Ugh – going through one of the worse cold/flu seasons ever. Im so over it. Started with Max, passed to Malia, to me, and now back to Max. It’s so frustrating! Max was up every 30-40 minutes last night, telling me he was going to throw up and hovering over the sink. The longest he slept was 1 hour and that was a 6AM. So annoying.March 1, 2017 at 5:02 am #3910
I hope you all are feeling better. I know how rough it is to go through all that. Poor kiddos! Poor you too! This is the first week since the end of January that no one is currently sick in our house (knock on wood!). This is the first day I’m able to wear my contacts again. Rhett’s pink eye cleared up quick. Mine was a little longer and then it was gone, or so I thought. It came back (or never went away) after 2 days of what I thought was clearness. So then I had it for another week! I had to drag Rhett into the doctor with me last week to get more drops, cuz he was on break, and I was like “don’t touch anything in this office, don’t even breathe in the air!” Haha!
Rhett had off last week. We spent the 2nd part of the week doing Rhett’s passport appointment (yay!), and then we went up to Chattanooga to do their children’s museum and aquarium. The weather was super nice and it was fun. We took Rhett to a driving range on Friday, where he picked up a club for the first time as a big kid (not the plastic baby/toddler clubs he used to have). He worked hard not to swing the club like a baseball bat, so it was fun to watch him learn. We’ve been knee deep in baseball all month. I’m the Team Mom and I’m running the dugout, so I’ll have my hands full this season! Rhett is playing in a more competitive league. Before, he was one of the best on his team. Now, he’s one of the worst. It’s great for him to play with better kids as his skill level improves much more.
I’m super busy in the house catching up on things from the break last week, and volunteering at the school as usual. Trying to read as much as I can. Nothing too interesting.
Happy March everyone!March 2, 2017 at 1:07 pm #3925
Hope everyone is feeling better, Mary.
Pink eye is terrible awful to start with. To have it last an extra week, you have my sympathy.
This cold and flu season is has been terrible. Normally I’m the person who gets that stupid sniffly, can’t breathe properly so sleep sucks, spend a few days on Dayquil/Nyquil ad then move on type cold. Last week I ended up with the feel like death warmed over, all I want to do is sleep cold/virus. Slept almost the entire weekend and then I actually called off work the next 2 days. I can’t remember the last time I took more than 1 sick day in a row – not that I missed being at work on President’s day aka College preview day. Plus I resorted to taking what was my grandpa’s icky cure (1/4 Cup of hot water, 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider vinegar and 2 teaspoons of honey – mostly to dilute the awful vinegar taste). I shiver just thinking about that concoction. Thought I was doing ok and then this week it’s like it tried to make a come back. Finally today the minor background headache seems to have gone away.
The roller coaster weather isn’t helping either. 60s and 70s last week which is all kinds of wrong for February in Ohio to low 30s and 20°windchill with snow possible as of today.March 6, 2017 at 9:34 am #3964
Sounds like we’ve all been hit hard this season. Here’s to feeling better soon everyone!
OMG, yes, this weather is crazy. The ups & downs make my sinuses want to explode!April 19, 2017 at 5:07 am #4076
We did our duty and voted yesterday! Democrats came soooo close to winning, now there is a run-off in June. It’s weird having the national attention focused on our district. I was looking forward to the robo-calls and all the mailing adverts stopping, but now it won’t end until June!
Heading outside in a minute to do all my spring planting. Excited to get some color out there. I’ll be hurting by the end of the day!May 7, 2017 at 6:08 pm #4154
School’s over in 17 days! I’m in denial haha! I’m in the home stretch rushing to get a bunch of stuff done before Rhett is home with me for the “summer.” They go back to school July 31st, the day after his birthday, so we bumped his birthday party back a few weeks. I can’t believe he will be in first grade. We really loved his Kindergarten teacher and it made for a great first year. Rhett is currently being tested for gifted, so we’ll see what happens. He doesn’t know anything about it, because I didn’t want him to really worry about it. He just described it as “going with some lady to do workbooks” haha. It’s not like it was when I was in school, so I’m okay with him doing it, or not doing it.May 18, 2017 at 1:55 pm #4180
Ballet recital, preschool graduation and summer sessions – oy, mommy life is definitely taking over. 🙂
I’ve been pretty busy. Lots of photography stuff going on and kids are keeping me busy. The weather has been really beautiful too so we’re spending a lot of time outdoors. We’re headed to the beach again this weekend which the kids will love. 🙂May 22, 2017 at 12:31 pm #4185
We’ve been in the high 90s the last few days so I’ve been enjoying the outdoors a lot. The kids enjoy riding their bikes and I love our new backyard pergola. We hit the beach again yesterday and just loved that vitamin “sea”.
So busy this week with a ballet recital, student-teacher assessments, and photography meetings. Gah, looking forward to a slower summer for sure.May 29, 2017 at 3:08 pm #4193
Ballet recital looked so cute! Oooh, can’t wait to see your pergola 🙂
