Hey! We are ready!! We’re all currently healthy 🙂 Hopping on here real quick before we leave…October 20, 2017 at 9:21 am #4411
It’s been a edgy month. The fires last week definitely had us on edge and just emotionally drained. With all of us signed up for text alerts, we were left jumpy when each ring of the phone. Glad that they got it under control and we got rain today.
The air quality is still really bad but improving. I feel like my body is finally trying to expel everything we breathed in. It’s been a yucky congestion. Malia has been bombarded with asthma so lots of oil rubs on her chest and her inhaler. She’s been going to school with a mask but she’s definitely on the mend.
We had a couple people at work lose their homes and many that are still displaced until roads are opened up, power is restored and it’s deemed safe. It’s just heartbreaking all around. I can’t even imagine what they’re going through!October 24, 2017 at 8:51 am #4415
So sad! Can’t even imagine. Watching it on TV is horrible, but living through it must be so hard. Has the air been better this week? Did you return to your work building yet? We’ve had wildfires several times in our area since we’ve lived here. One year, it was so smoky and hazy and it was terrible! The craziest thing of all, is that 9 times out of 10, these fires are caused by humans!! Makes me mad!
Just doing my holiday shopping for Rhett this morning. Trying to get most of it knocked out.October 24, 2017 at 2:13 pm #4424
Yes – we’re back at work. It truly was “the perfect storm”. The 50-70 mph windstorm knocked down power lines for the first fire. And the winds just pushed the fires so fast. The video coverage of one man outside his house was absolutely horrifying. In it, the fire was in a neighboring hillside and within seconds it was snaking up to his house and engulfed it. He was trying to save the house but got taken over too quickly. People truly only had minutes to get out. OUr CFO lost his house and he said his dog woke him up at 3 am and he had only minutes to get away.
If the winds had picked up again as predicted a couple days later, our building definitely would have gone down. The fire was stopped at the hillside across the street.
But we’re still here. 🙂
In other news, my 2017 wedding season is officially done and I’ll be closing the books on an incredible year of photography. Hoping I’ll be able to design my “Yearly” album the rest of the year and play with personal projects. 🙂 Looking forward to 2018 already as I’ve got big plans! 🙂November 3, 2017 at 10:44 am #4431
Ugh- I’ve gotta spend 5 days in East Lansing, MI. Blech. In all day meetings no less. Nothing against, MI, of course but all day meetings are such a pain.
BK – are you anywhere near East Lansing MI?November 6, 2017 at 6:25 am #4441
Yuck! No offense Michigan, but that stinks. Wish you could go somewhere better.
Hey, how did that shoot go in LA after we saw you? Was it fun? Were there are a lot of good locations?November 13, 2017 at 2:04 pm #4447
Yes, I’m HOME! 🙂
Long long LONG week at the office. My brain was completely fried by the end of the trip. The return back was sooooo long too – too many delays and just uncomfortable all the way through. I was asleep in my bed before my head hit the pillow on Friday night.
one more trip this year to Boston. Oy! Another cold one.November 15, 2017 at 1:39 pm #4448
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
We are headed on a flight to my Mom’s on Sunday, where I will help her with the meal, and get to see all my siblings, and nieces & nephews. Rhett is excited to go visiting.
Rhett was home sick a few days this week with another stomach virus. We have had a rough year with the germs at school so far. I would love to have us all healthy for at least one month. That is the goal!November 17, 2017 at 12:16 pm #4454
So bummed to hear that Rhett was sick again. 🙁 I hope he has a fun time on your family trip. I’m sure he will! Safe travels and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
