Incredible difficult time right now. Yesterday, I served my dad with divorce papers. He’s been in the Philippines for the last 2 months and my mom filed for divorce while he was away. It’s been such an emotional roller coaster the last few weeks. I’m tired and exhausted & hoping that we can see them both through this. 42 years of marriage – not something you see every day. 🙁March 10, 2018 at 6:02 pm #4858
Awww, Mary, I’m so sorry to hear that. Must be so hard. Are your parents okay? How are they holding up? Do you feel like you’re in the middle, or have things been amicable so far? My parents separated when I was 8, actually divorced years later. I was blessed with 2 great step-parents. But, it’s something that always sticks with me forever.March 13, 2018 at 9:16 am #4862
Thanks – it’s been a long time coming. My mom finally found what she needed to firm up her choice. It’s sad but freeing at the same time for her though. She made the decision 2 months ago but now that he’s back, she’s kind of reliving her emotions all over again. And he is an AMAZING liar and actor. SMH The sooner this is over, the better.March 13, 2018 at 1:01 pm #4863
Wow! Must be so hard. You are a supportive daughter 🙂 Will be thinking of you!March 29, 2018 at 12:39 pm #4870
And we’re back from our little weekend getaway. We took a drive to Reno for some hotel living and snow fun. There’s a great hotel we like to go to that has a bowling alley, movie theater, games and all that jazz. It’s a casino too so Mike gets some adult fun when the kids sleep. lol
We had some pretty great storms pass over the Sierras the week prior so the snow was perfect. I was hoping to get the kids up snowboarding, but they don’t take to the elevation very well so we stuck to sledding. Good times!April 4, 2018 at 5:40 am #4874
Sounds fun! Great you guys got to get away for a bit. I’ll bet you’re looking forward to Hawaii! 🙂
I have Rhett home with me on spring break this week. Scott was only allowed one day, so we took a day trip to a landmark in Georgia. We’re doing another day trip on Saturday. Otherwise, Rhett and I are just hanging out and having fun together. I’m wearing my stinky heart monitor for another 2 weeks, so I’m pretty sick of it already. I really don’t think it’s going to reveal anything about the crazy illness, but whatevs, at least we’re being thorough and I can be sure that my heart is in good shape at this age.
The weather seems to have finally stopped being cold and super-rainy. It’s been tough on our baseball season. Hopefully April will be better, so I can get my planting done. I always get excited to bring back some color into the yard.April 9, 2018 at 7:17 am #4892
How are your workouts going Mary? So great that you’ve been able to do that. Are they a lot different from what you were doing before? Will you continue on your own, fitting it in at your work gym etc?
We were on workout hiatus when I was sick, and when Scott had the stitches in his leg, but we’re getting back to normal, so that is nice. We still enjoy working out in the morning and getting it over with as many days a week as we can. I never beat myself up over it. I can start walking the ‘hood more now that the pollen has died down.April 9, 2018 at 11:34 am #4894
I’m so glad I did the challenge. I lost my first 30 pounds focusing on nutrition and fitness at my work gym. But then my “coach” left the company and I was left fending for myself. I had 20 more pounds to lose so I decided to do the 6 week challenge to give me a new push. The workouts were comparable to the ones my co-worker was putting me through so that actually wasn’t as bad as I thought. The intensity was a little more intense but I had plateaued with him anyway so it was time. Consistency was the biggest challenge but I love working out so I got into the groove pretty quickly. I’m 4 pounds from reaching that 20# mark and getting my money back….but I’m going to become a member. It was a really great experience.
I’ll find out next month if I can finally get off my blood pressure medication and I’m down 2 dress sizes. Woot woot! And I’ll be happy not to have to do those FB check-ins anymore. lol I hate spamming my feed but it was one of the requirements of the challenge. I’ll switch to maintenance if I lose the 20 pounds. So far so good.
My health scares a couple years ago really had me re-evaluate my nutrition and lifestyle. I really wanted to live my 40’s being the best version of myself. It’s been a really great journey.April 10, 2018 at 5:26 am #4896
Yay! Applause for you!! So glad you are feeling and looking better, for your health especially. Oh yeah, I’ll bet that would be so nice to get off meds if you don’t have to take them anymore. Go you!April 25, 2018 at 9:41 am #4926
Things are finally calming down at work. Whew! It’s been a marathon of a project.
Of course, wedding season is now kicking into high gear. I was having a conversation with Mike that perhaps this may be my last season. I don’t think I’m quite ready to shutter up the shop but I probably won’t put much effort into promoting and marketing. I’m just tired. The day job is reallly busy, the kids’ schedule is even crazier and I just want to be there & present for them as much as possible.
I’ll probably focus my photography work on more personal projects and if something comes my way, then I’ll let it come. No need to pursue it like I have been. Last year truly burnt me out.
