I love tackling home projects. I think home decor is a great way to create a space fitting for our family. It echoes our distinct personalities and makes it truly home.
This time, we’re tackling our backyard project. Now that we have kids, we find ourselves throwing a lot more parties so having a nice backyard serves several purposes.
- It’s easier to have people over than having to pack up the kids for an excursion.
- Having kids has encouraged us to celebrate milestones.
- It expands our living space – providing us with more square footage.
- It gives the kids a big playground – perfect for burning off energy and kept in a safe place.
That’s why we’re working on making our backyard a true extension to our house. Phase I of the backyard renovation is well underway. We decided to create a nice paved area with a retaining wall for seating. We’ll leave a space to add in a barbeque island grill and refrigerator. This was important to add an additional cooking space when we have parties. It’s PERFECT for those days when we fry fish too. My fellow Filipinos know how that smell permeates a house. 🙂
Phase II will focus on more detail work including adding in plants and setting up the outdoor furnishings. Be sure to check in often to see how this project progresses towards completion.
This is an awesome project! Congrats to you for putting in the effort so you have a place to share with friends and family! Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
