How Do You Make Time for Friends?

…schedule a conference call.

Today I sent out an e-mail to one of my oldest (in time that I’ve known her, not in reference to her age) and bestest friends after realizing that the birthday lunch I wanted to have with her was already a month overdue.

After trying to time things out for a phone call….

“Can I call you at noon?”….”Shoot, I have a meeting”

“How about after work?” ….”I swear, I have a dental appointment at 5:30. Call me when I’m driving.”

Shortly after I received a meeting request in Outlook.

JAM 24/7: Jennifer and Maryrose. 24 was my pager code. 7 was her pager code. (You know, back in the day when we messaged each other with pagers? 143 823 << remember that?) So we were always known as JAM 24/7. Cute and catchy, isn’t it?

Anyway, I accepted the meeting request.

That’s basically how I have to live my life now. Crazy isn’t it? Scheduled meetings with friends – not just to make the time for it to actually happen, but to simply remember that I need to talk to my friend!

I’m lucky that Jennifer is so great about it though. I oftentimes feel like an awful friend because I get so caught up in my own world of babies, photography and blogging…not to mention work and running. But whenever we do talk, it’s like we never spent any time apart. I’m lucky that way in her generosity.
