You know one of the best things about having kids?
Discovering new adventures!
I’ve lived in Fairfield, California for over 20 years (Really?! 20 years!!!) and never knew about the annual kite festival held right here in our city. My local Mommy Group added it to our event calendar and I knew that we just had to go. We packed up the kids, took out their new kite and spent our morning flying kites and checking out the cows at Lynch Canyon.
I’d never even seen this area of Fairfield. It was a large open space, with a hiking trail through the hills. Cows were grazing through the fields of mustard blooms and the wind was breezing through the valley. It was a great space for kite flying.
Malia also happens to love cows. Or as she calls them “Moooooooooooooos!” She was a little more interested in what they were doing than flying her kite. I kept see-sawing between encouraging her adventurous side and fighting away the image of a cow ramming into her. Ack! Sometimes, this girl just has no fear!
This will be an event we’ll check out every year. Be sure to check out your city’s Calendar of Events to learn more about activities offered in your own neighborhood. This one was a real treat.
That looks like a lot of fun!
