Having children has opened up new things for me in different ways. It wasn’t until I had kids that I truly cared about community activities. Yeah, I enjoyed the occassional Farmer’s market but I never really knew what was going on in our city. I was very please by the different types of activities provided by our local public library.
Last week I heard about a local event at the Vacaville Library, a wildlife exhibit by the Suisun Wildlife Center. I picked my little gal up from daycare, had a quick dinner date before heading over to the exhibit. That’s my kind of awesome weekday date!
The library was pretty packed for a Wednesday night. We found a nice seat up front and enjoyed the various species of owls and hawks that were shared with the group. It was exciting and fun for her and such a great experience for me. It also introduced me to the Suisun Wildlife Center which I hadn’t even heard of before this event.
Definitely take advantage of what your community has to offer. There are so many free programs out there designed for families. It’s such a great way to support your local community services. For more information on upcoming events, check out the Vacaville Library Event Calendar online. Maybe I’ll see you at an event. 🙂
