Lunch date?
With my husband?
I nearly forgot what that was like – it’s been so long!
We took a week off to work on some home projects and found ourselves in the Napa area on one of those days. We’d been working particularly hard on our “vacation” so we decided to make it a date day for the two of us.
Celadon happens to be one of our favorite restaurants and it’d been a long time since we’d gone. So that’s where we went.
After a week of work and temperatures in the 100’s, sangrias were among MY menu selections. Ah, the perfect taste of summer.
The calamari? So so good. I haven’t yet found it’s match. It has a light crunch, is never too oily and the sauce is hands-down my favorite. I’m not a fan of ginger but the combination of the calamari, lemon and sauce makes their pickled ginger top-notch.
The hubby had the tomato soup and thought it was delicious. I took a bite and liked it but with it being 100 degrees outside, soup wasn’t on my mind.
For entrees, he went with a burger. I went with the pork belly-watermelon small plate. I LOVED it. The pork belly was delicious (all 3 pieces they gave me) and the watermelon was perfect for the day. It wasn’t until after I finished it though that it dawned on me that I was paying for a dish that consisted of 80% watermelon. I probably wouldn’t order it again, no matter how good the pork belly is.
It’s still a wonderful spot to checkout if you’re in downtown Napa. It’s been a favorite of ours for years.
