I came across an article this morning talking about Lenton promises that are different from your typical “give up chocolate” or “give up Facebook” promises.
For the last couple of years, I’ve tried to make promises that bring true value to my life. They are promises that take me closer to being the kind of person I want to be and the role model I want to be for my family, and closer to living in a way that God intended. Taking a cue from this morning’s article here is my Lenton promise for this year:
- Donate 40 things for 40 days. I’ve become quite good at purging things that are no longer needed, but there are so many more things that I simply do not need. It’s time to stop living in excess and start enjoying the simple things that I already have. Plus, ther’s someone out there that really needs it.
- Devote 30 minutes a day to prayer and meditation instead of television or social media. Life is stressful. I want to make time to release the stresses of the day and to give thanks for all of my blessings.
- Devote 30 minutes a day to exercise. The human body is amazing. I need to take better care of it.
What will you give up for Lent this year?
