El Nino is finally making its presence known in California but that didn’t stop us from enjoying a break in the storm with the Radio Flyer Tricycle and Scooter that we scored at the local Savers Thrift shop. (6.99 for each one! Not bad!) Malia was so excited to see the pink scooter and Maxim just hopped onto the red tricycle so mommy and daddy got both for them. Since we’ve been promising ourselves to introduce more activities to the kids, it was a great purchase.
So on this brisk, winter day Malia pulled on her favorite rain boots and snow jacket for a quick jaunt around the neighborhood. She’s slowly finding her center of gravity and figuring out how to balance herself on her scooter. As I followed her around with my camera, I couldn’t help but smile as she asked me to stand away from her to figure things out on her own or at the wonderful array of colors from the outfit that she choose.
On the other side of the street, Maxim was learning how to work his legs into the pedals of his Radio Flyer Tricycle, as well as looking over at his sister to make sure she wasn’t going to take it from him. Ha! He’s starting to understand the rhythm and flow of pushing on the pedals, but for now having dad walk along side him to prod him along keeps him happy.
I loved documenting such a regular moment in our every day lives. Everything about this little outing made me smile – the outfits, the enthusiasm and the quiet storm brewing in the background.
