It’s the 6 wee mark and we’ve got some good changes!
At Malia’s last Wellness Check-up she weighed in at 7 lbs 11 ounces, was 20 1/4 inches long and had a head circumference of 35 inches! That’s my growing girl! I still get a little misty eyed as more and more of her newborn clothes stop fitting. I look at them as I put them away and am amazed at how tiny she was.
And she’s so much more alert now. Instead of napping the day away, I get to hang out with her – trying to make her laugh and talk. I have to make sure her first words are “mama”. It’s only logical – they’re the first syllables of her own name so it’s good practice. We have gotten her to laugh and smile at our antics and I can’t even express how great they are to see and hear. They completely transform her face and it’s just so, so pretty to see. And if I say a high pitched “Ah” she tries to imitate it. I love it!
Her motor skills are great. She’s got the grasping thing down. Her kicks and punches are stronger and slowly getting more coordinated. When she’s on her belly, it’s easier for her to hold her head up..although she loses her temper quick so tummy time is a short span of her play time….Cranky head!
Here’s a short clip of daddy playing with Malia
so sweet! What a precious baby. Good job mama on feeding her so well. She looks so happy and healthy.
I hope your saving those newborn clothes for number 2 😉
Can you believe in our birth month on baby center someone asked if anyone was pregnant again! By 6 weeks postpartum.. wow!
Wow is right! I can’t even imagine!
Baby #2 will come sooner rather than later – but not that soon. Sheesh!
