I learned about an “art installation” playground, or “playable art park,” in the metro Atlanta area where we live. I knew that we had to check it out. What a great idea–to combine art and a play area together!
Place: Abernathy Greenway Park
Address: 70 Abernathy Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328

This playground was so much fun to visit. It’s not super-close to my house, so is not a playground that we can frequently visit. But, we can’t wait to go back! It’s definitely worth a visit if you live in the metro Atlanta area.
Highlights of the playground (and my son’s favorites) are:
- The individual metal frame swings
- The funky playset
In California:
If you live in California, there is a similarly themed park in the Palo Alto area. It is called “Magical Bridge Palo Alto.” It is an innovative playground with unique play structures, designed for kids with disabilities in mind. But, it looks fun for everyone! This playground looks less “art installation” and more “innovation.” Either way, it looks super-cool. I know California is huge, but if you ever get the chance to visit Magical Bridge Palo Alto, let us know about it.
