Sunday afternoon (as well as all other times of the day and week) are usually filled with new lessons for Malia. Right now she loves her turtle (duh) shape sorter. She doesn’t quite grasp the point of it yet. What she does love about it is flinging the shell off of the turtle and discovering the treasures inside.
And when I say fling, I mean it. She flings it across the room and screams in delight at her strength. LOL
She then follows that with jamming the different shapes in her mouth before flinging those across the room.
Then she sits patiently as mommy gathers it all up again, points out the colors and shapes before putting it back into the sorter….then proceeding to repeat the steps above.
At least her coordination is improving. 🙂
In other learning news, Malia has also uttered her first word. Much to my dismay, her first word is UP. Not mama. UP! LOL She first said them on Sunday, her 8-month birthday. Big girl! And once she started saying it, she wouldn’t stop. Of course, once we heard her say it, we kept repeating it back to her so she’d say it again.
We’re not quite sure why this word was her first choice, but it sounded beautiful nonetheless. She says it with such emphasis too. High pitched, with a little bit of a hop, and finishing off with lips closed tight.
I haven’t managed to get it on video yet, but soon.
