It seems like a constant battle to entice the kids away from their iPads when we’re at home. I like to draw them into the kitchen or color in the dining room. Often times, turning to toys from my own childhood is a huge success.
On this go around, I unboxed the Fashion Plate set that my daughter received from a friend of mine. Raise your hand if you had one of these as a little (or big girl)?
“Mommy, I don’t get it”, she said as she watched me lay down the plates and place a blank piece of paper over it. When I drew the black crayon over the paper and the underlying design left its imprint, she was thrilled. She enjoyed the rest of the afternoon creating new fashions and coloring them to her heart’s content.
The one she has comes with a carrying/storage case. It makes it easy for her to take with her anywhere. She brings her creations to her friends so that they can color it together or she brings her kit along with her to dance class.

I love that she’s enjoying the same things I used to when I was a little girl. It sparks her creative side perfectly.
