Last week focused a lot of capturing snapshots of life. This week I wanted to take it a little further. Since we spent so much time at home through this pandemic, I wanted to really look for light in my home & take photos in places I otherwise wouldn’t take photos. The process was enjoyable. It gave me the opportunity to stop & think about what I was seeing. Sometimes it was enjoying the way the light created shadows on my office walls or seeing how the light played off of my plants. But most of the photos you see here were taken in spots I never thought to take photos in and it made me appreciate the beauty in my home.
Shadow and Light
I did have an interesting observation about myself. I have dabbled in different photography styles and find that mine is ever evolving. Lately I’ve been drawn more to shadow and deep images versus bright and airy. This is especially true when shooting indoors. I like to use shadows to get rid of unwanted distractions throughout the home. I can isolate my subject and direct the eye by simplifying the background.
Have you looked at your home and at how the light moves throughout? Where are some of your favorite spots?
