Naturally, there are dozens of things I love about my children. From their antics to the way they breathe at night, they’re just the most endearing creatures on the planet.
But there’s something fascinating about Malia’s hands. The first time she asked me to hold her hand, and I actually felt her holding my hand in hers, they got me. She might as well have stuck them in my chest and cradled my heart in them. I just LOVE her hands.
She has such long fingers and such a gentle hold (when she’s not smacking me with them). But I also feel like it’s one of the few things she got from me. She has her daddy’s smile, his nose, his structure…shoot, she even has his long legs. Her hands though? She got that from her momma! Recently, she’s gotten in the habit of laying the palm of her hand on my cheek as we snuggle for bed. She falls asleep that way and it’s one of the last things on my mind before I drift off.
Oh yeah, she’s got me in the palm of her hands.
